Spirit Combat

Soke DossettSpirit Combat Jujitsu is a modern art, developed in around 1960 by Soke Brian Dossett. He took parts of other martial arts, Judo, Aikido, Karate and Boxing and put them together to form a modern style of Jujitsu. In more than 40 years very little has had to change in this art, most changes that have occurred are to improve the safety of the art to come up to modern standards and expectations.

What we have with Spirit Combat is a modern art with traditional values. To make it more accessible to a modern world, the Japanese naming conventions have been replaced with numbers. Health and safety has been made a priority with all instructors having to have Criminal Record Background checks, be fully aware of child protection laws and regular instructor refresher courses.

  Soke Soke Aikido

There are 2 Jujitsu syllabuses. One for adults and another for juniors. Junior covers from the age of 6 to the age of about 14. This is because Soke Dossett recognised early on that children were not just mini adults, they had there own needs and limitations!
